Yoga in Schools
Yoga in schools supports overall well-being, helping students to develop body awareness alongside fostering mindfulness, and providing tools to manage stress, enhance self-awareness, and support emotional regulation. It's a holistic approach that nurtures both mind and body.
While the classes may look a little different to an adult class (they’re definitely louder!), my core principles remain the same: mindfulness, self-compassion, awareness, and self-regulation. My goal is to bring autonomy, playfulness, imagination, joy, and curiosity to each session, empowering every student.
I teach in various educational settings throughout London, from primary to secondary schools, in both curriculum classes and after-school clubs.

Integrating yoga into the school curriculum offers numerous benefits:
Physical: Builds strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination whilst improving body awareness.
Mental: Fosters mindfulness and provides tools to manage stress, enhance self-awareness, and support emotional regulation.
These benefits align seamlessly with the government’s PE and Wellbeing curriculum.
How can yoga do this?
By engaging in a breath-led dynamic practice that includes:
Autonomy and Body Awareness: Teaching children to listen to and respect their bodies.
Self-Regulation: Using yoga and breathing techniques to manage emotions.
Mindfulness: Practicing being present with feelings: physical, emotional, and body sensations.
Breathing Techniques: Helping children find calm through breathwork.
Collaboration and Creation: Fostering teamwork and imagination through partner and group activities.
